Aunt Lois

Had a plan today to visit David's aunt Lois, which we haven't seen in probably in 10 years. Drove up to passed Chicago where she lives in Evanston. I love Chicago though wouldn't want to live right in it. It reminds me a lot of London with all the little brown stone homes lined up along the streets. Also the subway and trains are a lot like London. And believe me I know the tube in London since I used it extensively 3 weeks ago, finding closed stations, taking cabs to open stations just to find that part of the line was under construction so taking the train to another station then taking the bus to another station and going back onto the original line and that all after midnight. Well today I had not to worry about the sub because we had our trusty car. Got to Aunt Lois an hour early because Chicago (Illinois) is in another time zone then Indiana, just half an hour away and we didn't remember.
Aunt Lois is really a character. She is about 89 years old and sharp as a tack. She is slightly abrasive but in a funny way. You really have to watch what you say otherwise she would take you on. Well we had a great time and ate her burned dinner with gusto. Time flew and we had to say our goodbyes.
Organized our properties tonight. We have about 18 properties in Michigan her along the Indiana border to look at. Will take us 3 days and an additional day to look at 4 more properties in north Indiana. Then we will head on to Ohio! I think that's were we will find our dream home.

  1. I still think you would be happier in southern Indiana or southern Ohio. Just think of all the equipment you need to live up north, snow shovels, snow blowers, snowmobiles, tire chains, snow tires, fireplaces...getting the picture, not to mention having 1-2 of supplies on hand for those lake effect snows. We are still awaiting your arrival...will it be in 09? hehehehehe

  3. Awe, Auntie Lois looks really tiny these days (espec. next to dad). Looks like she collects as many things as Grammy does. That's great that you got to hang out with her.
