November 26, 2009 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Dan's parents

Took it slow this morning since we didn't have any realtor appointments. Left the RV around 10am to arrive at Dan's sisters house at 11am. What a gaggle of people we met. Linda (Dan's sister) has 5 kids from age 9 to 23, then there was Dan's son age 16 and a couple of cousins and a boyfriend and husband of the kids. That made 10 young ones and 3 dogs and 6 adults. You see we oldies were heavy outnumbered and there was a meddle of activity. Lot's of fun. And the food was loading down the kitchen counters with everything Thanksgiving possible could give. So ate and ate and ate and just had a good time. We were shown the wedding album of the oldest daughter and what a wedding it must have been. The daughter and also her new husband are big bow hunters and the whole wedding party was dressed with camouflage accessories, the brides maids all holding bows instead of flowers and the grooms men wore camouflage cumber bands and ties and also holding bows. WOW,Wow! Please no comments on this from city folks, Dan might be reading this.
After we said our good byes and thank yous we decided to go on a little drive down to the area I admired so much yesterday though it was night. I was right, Millersburg and Berlin just blew my socks of. The towns are packed with antique stores and Swiss, German and Amish restaurants and food stores. Well as I said, this is where we are going to live, period! Drove back to our RV park and passed by this unbelievable beautiful huge Swiss chalet which used to be a restaurant and the worlds biggest clock shop (as it said on a bill board) but was for sale now. Next door is a huge Swiss cheese factory. Well friends, I WILL call tomorrow and ask for the sale price though it is probably out of our price range!
Will watch TV tonight after a nice shower in this luxury resort here where the showers have heated floors!
Hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  1. Ooooh, I am SO jealous of that meal. All that food! I bet it was a lovely Thanksgiving. And as I am a city person, I will not comment on that wedding album other than to say that I am also jealous you guys got to look at those photos.
I'm glad that your RV "Resort" is so magnificent - you guys deserve some luxury after being on the road for so long. I also googled the Millersburg & Berlin areas (yes, looks like they're near Sugar Creek - wasn't that the other area you guys liked?)and I approve! As they're also near to forests (actually one is near a wetland - good for bird watching!)and nicely between the two biggest cities in OH, plus close enough to Pittsburgh as well.
    Yay! This is SO exciting!
