November 12, 2009

It all seems to blur together, one house with the other. We have seen probably 30 to 40 homes by now (who is counting?)and can barely remember what we saw. Today we did 3 drive-byes and had 4 additional appointments with Realtors around Goshen and Nappanee and Warsaw. And again we saw another allmost "Wow" house, this one in Rome City. We looked forward to this house for days. It is awesome, built in 1867 and had those beautiful big rooms and windows to the floor. It was one of those brick estates with an in ground swimming pool, huge barn and 10 acres land. Nice, BUT the kitchen was small, 2 very small and dirty ugly bathrooms and carpet through out the house. I do want wooden floors and I am sure there were some but some overly creative person put in some gray carpet which had nothing to do with the characteristic of the house. Also some hideous popcorn ceiling made me shiver.
The barn was huge but needed some serious repairs. If we will make an offer it would be a low ball offer. But we are planing to go on since we haven't even touched Ohio yet.
The rest of the houses we saw were either crap, to small or to close to a highway. It is amazing how you can make something look so appealing on the net and then it looks so different when you see it "aux natural". All day we traveled in Amish country. We left around 8;30 am and drove along those country roads shrouded in light fog. Ever so often we would encounter an Amish buggy appearing from the white fluff. It was unreal and immense beautiful. I love this Amish country side. Very peaceful with softly rolling hills dotted with farms where horses and cows are grazing and here and there a small lake. A lot like Switzerland in a way.

  1. These Amish carriages actually look sort of eerie... But wow, the horses are really beautiful. Can't wait to experience it all myself, there in person!
