November 3, 2009

Got up cranky, because I wanted to sleep longer but had already appointments lined up again. Today we would work the other site of the Interstate. We wanted to check on a house from a "For Sale by Owner" with which I was in touch for a few weeks. He is at the time in San Francisco but wanted to meet with us middle of November. We decided to drive by it just to check out the property.
Again we used the GPS and got to see the whole country side on little itsy bitsy roads with several wrong turns because the GPS would not recognize a road who stops and then continues on the other side of the hill and thought we could just drive through this thicket of dense young forest, dang GPS!
So we looked at this property we had so high hopes for and found that it is a real bummer. So went 50 miles back to the other side of the Interstate to meet a realtor at a house. The GPS new this time what it was doing and we arrived quickly. This was a property David and I almost could agree on but again it wasn't perfect.
So back into the car to our next destination another 50 or 60 miles away. Did I mentioned that Trina was with us on ALL those trips. Thanks god she is a couch potato and just naps in the back of the car. As soon as we stop we open the back door and she hops out, rolls in the grass and jumps back into the car. She looooooooooves Indiana with all the soft grass to roll in.
Anyway this time the GPS really pissed me off. We drove and drove and drove and it seemed that sometimes even the GPS had 2nd thoughts and would make U turns. We never saw a soul, house or street but just light forest and winding road. David was foaming at the mouth. We finally found a person on the street and asked for the next big road. He pointed in a general direction and after another half an hour we finally found our way out of this maze and sighted a larger street which was on my map. It took as 1 1/2 hour to do a distance which would have taken about 40 min on the Hwy. We arrived at the area where this property was to be but again the GPS didn't accept the 5723 W 300 Cr 645 South. We decided to give up and go on to the next property where we had an appointment.
Wow! Big weird house with little rooms going into other rooms going through closets on a floor which was going uphill or downhill just however the house had settled. But the land,oh gosh, was haven. 10 acres with a BIG lake and a single swan floating in it. This was a piece of art. But the house......no thanks! The agent mentioned that her sisters house was on the market too and just what we wanted. Yes we had some time and so we saw a house I had dreamed of. Built from bricks around the 19 hundreds with radiator heaters and sunny, sunny rooms I fell in love with it. Then there was the cannery house, the chicken house (huge), the barn and 2 huge, huge stocked ponds, all on 20 acres. I want it, I want it! But dang, David thinks the house is to old. Granted, the master bedroom is in the basement (dry-basement) but it is huge with a huge master bath. Well I haven't given up on this one but we will continue to look. There must be our dream out there some place.
Again, home after dark after driving over 300 miles.
