Pulled out of Lafayette today heading up to the Michigan border around Michigan City where we found again a nice RV park. It is getting harder and harder to find a RV park who is open during winter the further north we drive. Stopped on the way at an Amish furniture place with amazing beautiful furniture. Pricey too though. Behind the furniture store was an antique market and I saw an old, old kitchen table with enamel top and extendable. With matching chairs to boost. Of course I was ready to buy but again poor David had to promise if I wouldn't find anything similar as nice where we would move that he would drive back to get it. He will do a lot of driving back very soon I'm afraid.
Drove on to Michigan City on Lake Michigan, parked our RV, unhitched the car and went to check out the town and the lake. Gorgeous lake, like an ocean in the middle of the country. Can't see the other side of the lake! And oh those estates along the lake. We noticed along the freeway billboards which announced that the lotto is at 77millions. Well we were ready to buy a few tickets. Checked out the town which seem suffering very much under the recession and probably 50% of the storefronts of this picturesque town were boarded up or closed. Though on the outskirt of the town the economy was booming with every and any store chain being present and the same for the restaurants. And every restaurant had a waiting of half an hour. The Olive garden looked more like an hour waiting and at Chili's we sat in the smoker section just to not have to wait too. Sad! The historic part would have been so much nicer but it was dead!
Had our monthly fix of baby back ribs and went home!
