Woahhhh, Friday the 13th, scary or good? We left our motor home in Goshen and drove across the state line to Defiance in Ohio. It took us 2 hours along Amish farms and beautiful countryside. I just cant stop admiring the peaceful picture those buggies make, rolling along the road. We had an appointment with a Realtor at 11 am and of course were late because we were following 3 over sized trucks hauling huge piles of steel-something or other using both lanes of the road. So there was no taking over for about 14 miles. Grrrrrrrrrrrr, we speedy Californians have to learn to adjust to the pace in this part of the country. Then we arrived at this dream property. A 2 acre lake wrapping around this house. David was about to faint, he loved it so much. Then we entered the house. Now friends, I have never seen such a white house. The people living here must walk on their hands. Snowy white walls, snowy white furniture and best of all a snowy, snowy, snowy white carpet. How in the world can one live in there. There wasn't a fiber out of place in this carpet. Help, with a black dog and a messy husband, how could I ever keep this place clean. Everything was blindingly polished, decorated to perfection and as un-homey as can be. NO THANK YOU! The Realtor thought that I lost my marbles not liking this perfect place. But i could never live in a place like this.
The Realtor asked me what i would like in a place and my answer was something like....an old farm house with garden, wood floors, mud room and an old barn!!! Nothing like the thing he just showed us. He started to mumble something and making a couple of phone calls and then mentioned that he just might have what I wanted. So we followed him and then we saw the "W O W" place. 33 acres with an old farm house build in 1900 ( now dear family in Europe, that is an OLD house), a 2 story barn the size of a big church, a 2 story workshop/barn with a bunch of windows so cute that I want to convert it into my studio, a chicken house half the size of our house in San Diego, a drive through barn with stables and an other barn just for the fun of it! Then there is a 1/3 acre pond stocked with fish for yummy dinners and with a little beach. Of course it will be used in summer for swimming. Then we went into the house. Big sunny rooms with wood floors through out the house. Large kitchen, huge family room and a okay size master bedroom and upstairs 4 more bedrooms for the guests!!!!!Yeah, we liked it okay!!!! BUT...there is a country road going by about 100 yards away from the house and the big rigs and cars are going 55miles/hour.
Well, we are going to sleep on it tonight and then tomorrow we will make a decision...to buy or not to buy. I loooooove the place but can I stand the street? I don't know. Will have to think long and hard. Will let you know tomorrow.
We will stay at this RV park tomorrow and try to take care of our business in Rochester by phone so we don't have to drive all the way up to New York State. Would be a 500 miles trip each way and we are sick and tired of driving. We put every day between 100 to 300 miles on the car looking for homes. To much so will have a days rest tomorrow and reorganize our self.
