November 5, 2009

Got another easy day. Was terrible on Michelle-chat withdraw and wanted to skype with her this morning. No luck, she was busy shopping for presents and wasn't home.
So we left our RV park and started out for a house we had the combination o the lock box. David tells the agents that he is a Realtor and gives them his credentials and in return we can go and look by our self. So went to look at this house in Muncie on 12 acres. The agent told us that the house was on the market for about 400 days and that they just got an offer on it a couple of days ago.
We checked it out and oh man, this is the house I want(again). I know,I know you heard that before but oh gosh it was super. Large rooms with wood floors, dark old wood trims around doors and windows. Wonderful root cellar and dry basement for me to hang laundry. Old commodes and claw foot tubs. My choice of a house. Meanwhile David drooled over the land and huge pole barn. But dang, this is just the beginning of the trip and the house had an offer on it which wasn't accepted yet. The pressure was on but then we decided to wait and move on.
The next house the agent told us to schedule an hour to see it. An hour for one house, how big could it be? Well folks it wasn't the house what took one hour, it was the agent!!! She or her husband were professors at the university here in Muncie and she liked to lecture!!!! Phew, she told us about the whole history of the house (around 130 years old), the history of the town, the history of the life of the previous owners including the professor who owned it now. Now he wasn't there but wrote a whole booklet about the house which that chatty realtor explained page by page. And that all before we even saw the home. Now it was a beauty now doubt about it but had all those little hallways and back stair cases one really could get lost in. There was even a stair in a closet size room that led to nowhere but just stopped halfway up the wall. Interesting place. Lovely but a bit crazy. We had a hard time tearing our self away since our chatty lady still had a lot more to say. Eventually we bowed our way out and were back on the road.
One more property today which we both didn't liked. We turned to go back what had become our home for a while, our RV.
Yeah it was only 3pm and since we were on east coast time I still had time to rip out the computer and hook up with Michelle. Finally got my Michelle-chat fix and am a happy camper again.
Tomorrow we will pull out here leaving Chesterfield behind and drive to the north west side of Indianapolis parking in Lafayette. The directions on the web for the RV park are: I-65 ex.168, w. 1.2 mi on SR 38 to Cr475E/350S, 4mi to 9th, N 0.5mi to Cr-300S, W 0.9mi. Sounds simple, doesn't it, though the GPS I know will get confused!!!

  1. Good grief...you get two hours from me and then you head to Chicago...7 hours away from me! Hehehehehehe...Must be that dang GPS! I wish you had time to examine Brown, Green and Owen counties...Those are some really beautiful spots in Indiana. However, at least you are geting the flavor of what Indiana is like. Most importantly, don't overlook how cheap Indiana is. Taxes are LOW! Fuel is generally cheaper than other parts of the country...and that Miswest hospitality! Need I say more?

Well, just enjoy your trip. I would have been a blog follower, but you have to have an account with some special company, and that is all I need, another login and another password!

    Happy trails,
    Phil

  2. Hey Mamma,
Love the blog. But remember: NO houses over 80 years old or so because otherwise they may be HAUNTED! ;o) I mean "stairs going to nowhere?!" That can't be good.

    Love you guys,
    Michelle
P.S. Lebanon is only 1 hr ahead of W Europe.
