Wow, I found where I want to live. This is final. I found little haven. After checking in last night I roamed the reception area at the RV park and pulled about a dozen cards out of the visitors brochure rack all promising Swiss food, German food Amish food, Swiss farms, German farms and yes, Amish farms to visit. Well we arrived in the American Switzerland. When we started to talk about moving to the Midwest I wanted to move to Wisconsin because of the Swiss population there. Well guess what, here in Sugar Creek is another Swiss population.
We looked at 5 houses today including the house I wanted to see since we left San Diego. A brick mansion built in 1825 with 20 acres. Oh I want that house so bad but darn it, David doesn't like the land that much. It is huge, over 4000 sqft with beautiful stained glass and painted gold ceilings with 24 carat gold decoration. Huge rooms and a big, big attic not even included in the square footage. Oh baby, i want it so bad! Trina loved it too, rolling in the wet grass and jumping around. I have never seen her moving that much. Well David doesn't want it so on we went. Saw a couple of other possibilities but no Wow's.
Then we drove in the dark back through Berlin which is one of those towns with those Swiss or German Restaurants and a store with all European food. Oh man, I can hardly wait to live here. No other place will do.
Came back to the RV park and I went to do the laundry. Again raided the brochure rack and found one for the Ohio Swiss Festival. It is in October and we will have to be there next year.
While driving back to the RV park Dan our friend who is house sitting for us our house in San Diego called and told us that his sister would be happy to have us for Thanksgiving dinner. Dan is from this neck of the woods and he called his sister to feed us. How nice! He emailed David a bunch of phone numbers including that of his best friend who also lives in this neighbor hood and Dan wants us to meet him. Well David called Dans sister to thank for the Thanksgiving invitation and dialed the wrong number. Since nobody answered at this number he left a message saying how much he appreciated the invitation for dinner. Later he called Dan back to confirm that he called his sister. I guess Dan checked with him the number and low and behold David invited himself to some stranger (Dan's friend) who probably was wondering who that nut is who want to come for Thanksgiving to his house just like the Family in "European Vacation"! After Dan explained to David that he was calling the wrong person David called the guy back who thanks god laughed it off and rubbed it in and made sure that when we are in his area (probably by Tuesday) to swing by.
Am on the net now and found 14 more properties in the neighbor hood to check out. We probably will leave Ohio though by end of next week. So friends, please cross your fingers and "druck da dumae" that we will find something. We decided otherwise to come back here and live in the motor home till we find something since this is the area i want to live. Please send some stronger good thoughts our way, just try harder, the last time it didn't work!
Happy Turkey Day to everybody. I am thankful that you are my friends and family and David and I are very fortunate to have you in our lives! I love you all!
Ooooh! That house looks sooo cool! I guess I change my mind, even if it's haunted, you should still buy it! What's wrong with the land?! Why didn't dad like it? No barns? ;o) Was there a river or lake near/on the property? Extra buildings on the property for cars or a workshop?
ReplyDeleteI like this Sugar Creek area too (did a googlemap check) because there's Wayne National Forest right near by. US Parks/Forests are great to have nearby for hiking, camping, fishing (& hunting for dad), and so forth.
I'm really excited that you guys are moving that far east. Everything is just closer together over there. All the big cities, famous landmarks and so forth... Really neat!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love, Michelle
P.S. Post more pics!
I REALLY like this house. The wood is a bit dark but wow, it is REAL wood (not compressed bits of wood or plastic made to look like wood)... The brick area over the stove is really cool too. Stop teasing me with these fab pictures! ;o)
